ANNE WANNER'S Textiles in History   /  lisbon 2003

  CIETA general assembly - Lisbon - 29, 30 September, 1 and 2 October 2003

  letter of Elsa E. Guđjónsson:

Kópavogur, Iceland  13 September 2003

I shall not be able to come to Lissabon to the meeting.
I send my best regards and hope you will have an interesting conference.

I should like to mention - and may I perhaps ask you to pass the information along to members?
- that my book "Traditional Icelandic Embroidery",
first published in 1985 but out of print for almost a decade,
is just now available in a 2nd edition (2003)
with revised text and added updated bibliography.

It is available in bookstores here and can also be ordered from the University of Iceland Press
(Háskólaútgáfan) in Reykjavík, Iceland, which distributes it for me (I myself being the publisher).
The ISBN number is 9979-9202-6-2.
I am told that the price has been set to U.S. $50.00.
The book will be listed on the Net in the updated book list from the University of Iceland Press soon.

By the way, the U.ofI.Pr. has also taken over the distribution of my little book in three languages
about the thireen Icelandic Christmas lads
illustrated in color with embroidered pictures
designed and executed by the author (4th enlarged edition 2002).

With best regards,
Elsa E. Guđjónsson

  letter of Naomi Tarrant:

Dear Anne, thank you for your e-mail.
I shall not be going to CIETA as it is the same time as the ICOM Costume Committee in Poland.
Also I am not a personal member of CIETA.
A new Curtaor of Costume and Textiles will be arriving at the end of this month.  Her name is Fiona Anderson.  She may well take up the museum's membership and come in future years but not this year.

I wish you all well at the meeting and please give my regards to all friends.  It would have been a sad meeting for me anyway without dear Margaret's presence.   All good wishes Naomi
