- The CIETA
Website http://www.cieta-textiles.org/ has been active
since December 2006. It offers a general
presentation of CIETA and practical information
on its activities, publications and technical
courses.
- The Costume
Committee of ICOM has been responsible
for the compiling of the Vocabulary of basic
terms for the cataloguing of costume in english,

- New Chair of
Textile History, starting autumn 2009:
The new Professor for this chair of
Textile History is elected. Prof.Dr.
Birgitt Borkopp-Restle is now going to
start the new study program this September 2009.

- Now the first textile
magazines can be digitally read by
subscription. These include Textile Forum, Hali
and Selvedge. A sample copy of each magazine,
readabel in its entirety, is available for free.

- The Museum of
Applied Art in Cologne was founded in
1888 at the instigation of enthusiastic citizens
of Cologne and was supported to an important
degree by the Kölnischer Kunstgewerbe-Verein
(Cologne society of arts and crafts).The new
director of this house since first of
March 2010 is Dr. Petra Hesse.
- Due to financial
problems the Textilbibliothek in
St.Gallen, Switzerland will be closed in
the end of 2010. A group of friends of the
library is collecting signatures with the aim to
find other solutions. Information: info@textilbibliothek.ch

textile organisations http://www.stidoc.nl with a textile
library in Utrecht. They are supported

organisation of amateur art, also based in Utrecht.
A textile route of Leiden with 32
stations is on offer, as well as
many workshops, exhibitions and the results of an
open competition themed Traces.
