  • MPhil in Textile Conservation
    We are pleased to see the rebirth of the Textile Conservation Centre at the University of Glasgow's Department of History of Art, now offering a MPhil in Textile Conservation, a new two-year postrgraduate programme, and a MLitta new one-year portgraduate programme in Dress and Textile Histories,

  • Textilmuseum St.Gallen, Switzerland: from January 2012 there will be a new funding body. The museum will be managed by a new association called: "Verein Textilmuseum". It will be financed partly by the Canton of St.Gallen, the city of St.Gallen and the chamber of commerce (IHK). Collections, the library as well as the house itself will remain property of the chamber of commerce, all 3 of them will be lent without charges to the newly founded association. With this solution collaborators in the house may keep their jobs, the library is also continuing to be a lending library. As Hanspeter Schmid will retire in the end of 2011. From February 1st 2012 the new director will be: Dr. Manuela Reichel from Vienna.

  • Dr. Annette Paetz genannt Schieck wird neue Leiterin des Deutschen Textilmuseums in Krefeld.
    Der Hauptausschuss der Stadt Krefeld hat mit großer Mehrheit Dr. Annette Paetz genannt Schieck zur neuen Leiterin des Deutschen Textilmuseums in Krefeld gewählt. Die 43-Jährige arbeitet zurzeit als Projektmanagerin des EU-Projektes „Clothing and Identities - New Perspectives on Textiles in the Roman Empire (DressID)" in Mannheim. Als Hochschuldozentin war sie unter anderem in Köln und Kiel beschäftigt. Im Deutschen Textilmuseum organisierte Dr. Annette Paetz genannt Schieck im Jahr 2003 die Ausstellung „Aus Gräbern geborgen - Koptische Textilien aus eigener Sammlung".

Publication of CIETA Bulletins

  • The Bulletins No 84/85 and 86/87 will be double issues. Regula Schorta, director of the Abegg Foundation and Dominique Cardon, Director of Research at the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) are looking after the preparation of these publications. All articles and proposals must be sent to the CIETA General administrative Secretariat for registration and are then transmitted by the Secretariat to the editorial team.

  • Lyon, France: a partnership between the CIETA, the Musée des Tissus and the CIHAM/UMR 5648 located at the University Lyon 2. The Collaboration allows the teaching of the following:
    - a 2 hour initiation seminar on technical analyses of ancient and archeological textiles, taught by Marie-Hélène Guelton, the CIETA Technical Secretary and
    - a 2 hour initiation seminar on ancient and archeological textiles conservation and resauration, taught by Marie Schoefer, head of the restauration workshop of the Musée des Tissus of Lyon
