| Rheinfelden, November,
2001 Dear members,
This letter is sent by e-mail and on paper as well. Next
year I would like to change to e-mail for all members who
have an e-mail adress. I shall also try to send news to
you more frequent
I am glad, to have found also for this present Newsletter
conservators and interested people who help me with news
and contributions. Many thanks to: Birgitt Borkopp,
Marie-Jo de Chaignon, Danièle Denise, Tatiana
Kossourova, Charlotte Paludan, Noemi Tarrant, Evelin
Wetter. Mme J. Guilloit contributes with some comments to
earlier letters. Thank you very much also for advices and
information of new books and exhibitions.
In Lyons at the Cieta-conference the embroidery group
only had a very short meeting. Members are interested to
continue with the vocabulary project, but more discussion
is needed. It would be good to arrange an extra meeting,
for instance next summer in Paris, at the exhibition
"Les Arts Décoratifs au temps de Louis XIII (1600
to 1660)" in Paris in Plain Palais, from April to
July 2002.
I propose a meeting there
on the weekend 8th/ 9th of June 2002. Please let me know
your opinion.
Please continue to inform
me about chalice veils, textile exhibitions, books,
courses and conferences.
Best wishes yours
Anne Wanner-JeanRichard,

Silke Mechelke, is a student and she is going to
write her master of art thesis about art embroidery
around 1900. At the moment she is interested in the
landscape embroideries of Florence Jessie Hösel
(Berlin), and also in works of embroidery artists of the
same time with a similar style.
Questions:
- does anyone know about embroideries of
Florence Jessie
- where are they at the moment?
- does anyone know about similar embroideries of the same
time?
please send
your answer to: Silke Mechelke, email: Silkeme@web.de

In Lyon we decided to look
at the drawings of stitches as published on the homepage.
These stitches published by G. Christie will serve as a
basis for our work.
- should we have more or different kinds of stitches?
- please give your comments on special groups of stitches
in your country, and also about your own research
experience.
- which are your favourite books? in English and also in
your language?
