21st, 2004 13th ETN Conference in Izmir/Turkey for

European Textile Network will held its 13th Conference from 15th to 17th September 2005. The co-organiser in Izmir is the Dokuz Eylül University (Faculty of Fine Art, Textile Department, Prof. Suhandan Özay-Demirkan) one of the three prominent institutions for the education of textile artists/designers in Turkey. There are pre-conference workshops planned to themes like Jacquard weaving, Block-printing, Silk paper, Felting, Marbling and Turkish embroidery techniques. During and after the Conference a series of trips to craft centres and historical sites is planned. From September 19th to 22nd 2005 a tour to Bursa, the old capital of silk, and to Istanbul will be organised as an opportunity for textile professionals to meet their colleagues in Turkey. In Istanbul
there will be visits Together with the Conference there will be organised an International Textile Art Exhibition, taking
place from September 15th to October 8th Organiser is the Textile Department/Faculty of Fine Arts of the Dokuz Eylül University in Izmir. The exhibition will show
works of textile art/design that addresses the theme of
new expressions in textile art/design refering to the own
textile heritage of each participant. The works will be juried by an international jury from two slides per work (all over picture and detail). These slides will also be used for the planned bi-lingual catalogue (in English and Turkish). Selected works should
arrive at the Museum before August 1st, 2005.
