1 - FOREWORD
Carrying the achievements of ‘From Lausanne to Beijing-2000&2002 International Fiber Art Exhibition & Symposium’, and centering on Beijing Declaration which embodies the spirit of Lausanne, Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University and Fiber Art Committee of China are going to hold the 4th International Fiber Art Biennale in Suzhou on October 27, 2006.

The International Fiber Art Symposium will be held at the same time. The intention of the cultural event is to show the most active thoughts and ideas in the field of fiber art in the world, to further more exchange and communication between the eastern and western art.
Therefore, we promote mutual understanding and cooperation between the art colleges and universities around the globe. We welcome support and participation from Chinese and foreign colleges and universities, enterprisers, artists and academic sphere.


2 - THEME
The main purpose of the upcoming event is to promote the development and exchange of international fiber art. The intention is to advance Chinese fiber art and art education through an international mutual aid and communication for Chinese and international artists, art colleges and universities in the field of fiber art. We hope to establish beneficial circumstances for internal and external academic exchange.

PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS

Materials for Application must arrive from June 20, 2006 to July20, 2006

Checklist for application:
- Application Form (For Exhibition or Symposium or both);
- Biography and brief post and rank;
- Images of the participating art works (slides preferred);
About the slide, they will be printed and published.
Please send the Form of translation in English.

The organizer has the right to publish the participating works and thesis
for the purpose of publication.

  1. The international juries will judge the materials for participation. The participants should mail the art works after received the participating information from the jury.
  2. For the oversea participants, art works must be shipped by international Post Office and arrive by September 1, 2006 to be exempt of duty fee. If shipped by UPS or Federal Express duty fee will be applied. Please mail through international Post Office or bring it by yourself.
  3. The shipping cost to China, as well as the duty (for the customs) if not shipped by International Post Office will be borne by the participants; the organizer will cover the cost to return to the participants.
  4. Insurance of the art works should be purchased by the participants.
  5. $100US fee will be paid by each participant for symposium attendance and return shipping and handling of artwork.
